"Anything that engages your creative mind, the ability to make connections between unrelated things, and imagine new ways to communicate is good for you."

Welcome to the Pre-Grade R Class!
I’m Mrs. Delene de Meyer (Teacher Delene), and I’m thrilled to be your child’s teacher this year. My wonderful assistant, Jane Khumalo, and I are excited to embark on this learning journey with our 5 to 6-year-olds.
A little about me: I have two children of my own and have been teaching for 30 years. My experience includes tutoring pre-school children, so I know exactly what your child needs to be ready for Grade R next year. I’m always here to help, so please feel free to reach out with any questions. I’m known for being loud, bubbly, fair, and lovable, and I can’t wait to work hand in hand with you to benefit your child.
As a parent myself, I understand the pride and joy you feel when your child enters my classroom. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to teach, inspire, motivate, and encourage your little one. Together, we can achieve wonderful things!
In our class, we learn through play. Don’t worry if your child comes home a bit dirty – it means they’ve had a fantastic day of learning and fun!
"Let them play! The more they play, the more resilient and socially adept they will become."

Here’s a peek at what we do:
Our senior classes, including the Elephants and Pre-Grade R’s, have drum lessons once a week. These lessons help develop reading and writing skills, motor skills, stress reduction, and listening skills through rhythm.
We have introduced compulsory Robotics/Computer Coding classes. This exciting subject will help our Pre-Grade R’s broaden their knowledge and feel confident as they move forward to Grade R.
We encourage good manners, so please ensure your child greets the teachers on arrival with a cheerful “Good Morning, Teacher Delene/Jane.” Our “magic words” are please, thank you, and may I have.
With such a busy morning, we wind down with some relaxing yoga and soothing music before nap time.
In addition to our structured activities, we enjoy gross motor activities, music, baking, and lots of free play.
I’m looking forward to a productive and fun-filled year with your child and you. Let’s make this year a memorable one!
